Winemaker Notes: This is becoming very fine, and watch out; it's entirely different from its old apples-and-butter form, more oystery and chalky and ginger and talc, with the apple-butter thing skulking in the mid-palate. It's racy, on the tensile side. I'd be a lot happier with three more grams of rs, but you won't agree if you prefer a vigorously dry Champagne.

Wine Spectator - "A bright, finely meshed version that shows beautiful harmony throughout, offering flavors of Gala apple, spring forest, almond pastry and lemon curd riding the creamy mousse. Lasting, spiced finish. Disgorged February 2016. Drink now through 2022."

Vinous - "The NV Brut Cuvée Ste.-Anne is one of the best Champagnes readers will find in its price range, or any price range, for that matter. Bright and beautifully focused, the Ste.-Anne has so much to offer. The purity of the flavors is just remarkable. If anything, it needs more time on the cork to soften, as it is quite reticent at this stage. This release is based on 2017, with reserve wines from 2016 and 2015. The blend is 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier, with the Chardonnay very much in evidence at this stage. Dosage is 5.15 grams/liter. Disgorged: February, 2020. Drinking window: 2020 - 2026."

Wine & Spirits - "Scents of ginger and chalk hold this wine to a long, narrow frame. The flavors are precise and floral, yielding scents of cherry blossoms and supple apple notes. It feels tight and austere, classical in its profile, a mouthwatering Champagne for salmon tartare. Best Buy"

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "The latest release of Chartogne's NV Brut Sainte Anne is based on the 2017 vintage, complemented by 40% reserve wines. Disgorged in September 2020 with five grams per liter dosage, it opens in the glass with aromas of crisp yellow orchard fruit, white flowers and fresh pastry. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, it's elegantly textural, bright and precise, with a seamless, harmonious profile."

Burghound - "Strong notes of petrol and yeast combine with those of citrus, green apple and a hint of brioche. There is a borderline aggressive mousse that is almost painfully intense yet it's sufficiently fine that the mouth feel of the flavors is not rustic or unpleasant. The finish is quite dry and crisp and while there is sneaky good length, it lacks a bit of depth. I suspect that this will eventually round out as I do like the underlying material. In sum, if you're going to buy this one I would suggest doing so knowing that it will require at least a few years of cellaring."
